NEW MUSIC: DAWN RICHARD – ARMOR ON (EP) (FULL ALBUM STREAM)

By

Dawn Richard challenges the definition of R&B with her EP, Armor On. The former Danity Kane and Dirty Money diva isn’t serving up classic soul-drenched records on this project—she’s putting her own spin on a brand of music that has a place for R&B-heavy ballads, pop tunes, and dance sensibilities. The EP, which was produced primarily by Druski—he crafted nine of the 10 tracks, Rick Rude helmed “Faith”—is a prelude to her full-length solo debut, GoldenHeart.

Throughout the impressive body of work, the New Orleans native addresses broken relationships, the temptation of the music industry, a positive support system, and true romance. The soundscapes Druski offers never drown Dawn’s vocals, but rather serve as the bed for her poignant lyrics to rest on. Dawn will release her latest project on iTunes tomorrow March 27.

The cover is highly reminiscent of Kelis’s 5th studio album, FleshTone. But yes go DAWN! The music is great!

    EP a disappointment for me.

EPs dont have more than 7 tracks, sorry. This isn’t an EP. It’s her way of releasing an album so when it flop she can say “it’s just an EP.”

I agree MRay. I don’t even think marketing is going move this mess!

Why is this EP listed under R&B. Shouldn’t this post be on hiphop hollywood?

Haha no idea why people hate on this girl so hard. This EP is dope. Such a stand-out to the generic crap other artists have been putting out. There is a vision here, and a mood which transcends every song…it is just cool. So good to see that come out of an independent release…Some artists need to take note:

JUMP OFF THE DAMN GUETTA/AVICCI/DR. LUKE TRAIN and think for yourselves!

Well done Dawn, i’m buying this for sure.

One more thing, i’d like to see some dancing with these tracks. From what I remember from Making the Band she can go harder than pretty much any chick out there on the dance-floor. Harder than most dudes too for that matter.

Codine-sounds like you are someone close to her. Ya’ll better tell her the truth, before it hits mass media. Not hating on her as a person, just the music. It is not hating if you really don’t like it.

Dancing is not going to make it sound any better. Sorry Charlie!

Haha yes in fact we are related, look me up…26 West coast white male. And if dancing didn’t make records better, half of the industry wouldn’t have careers.

Yes yes YES! Finally the champ is her. I have always loved Dawns vocals and her swagger. She does Dawn and no one else. Her vocals ( to me) are like a female version on of Chris Brown. No one can come close in talent not rhi rhi cece or Bey. I love it. I would love to see her on top….. Showing the industry that you don’t have to be a light skin female to be relevant or talented. Great Album. Keep doing you Ms Dawn. Don’t let no one take your shine again…. Dumb Diddy lol
