Raheem DeVaughn is using his talents to advocate and encourage the feelings of pain over the outcome in the case of Trayvon Martin. The DC native attempts to speak directly to the “Trigga Man” on the raw song, and ask if he ever stopped to think what kind of person the 17-year-old was, or could be; or was hate the only thing on his mind.
“Dear assassinator, dear murderer did you ever stop to think, that I coulda been a Teacher, a Preacher, or played Power Forward/ That I coulda been a Surgeon, a Father, a Grandpa one day/ But you, your a dream killer…Trigga Man,” sings Raheem on the opening verse.
Styles P joins the soulful crooner to rap a conscious verse, “the world’s in a dark place because of the hatred towards a dark face,” he raps on the Face and Rai produced song. The record includes a sampled intro from President Barack Obama, and news report about the killing of another teenager in Florida, who was killed for playing music too loud as the outro.
