Solange kicked off Saturday night at the 2013 ESSENCE Music Festival mainstage, for her first time performing at the annual event.
The singer/songwriter delivered a strong set for early attendees as the arena filled up. She focused on her critically acclaimed new EP
‘TRUE,’ along with some selections from her 2008 sophomore album ‘Sol-Angel And The Hadley Street Dreams,’ including favorites, “T.O.N.Y.,” “Sandcastle Disco” and “I Decided.”
Rocking her knee-length braids again, and funky red pantsuit, Solange set a captivating tone for the evening. Toward the end of her set, she had everyone dancing along to her groovy single “Losing You.”
