This past Monday, R. Kelly returned with his blunt, reflective new song “My Story” featuring 2 Chainz. Half braggadocious and half honest, the cut had many people talking, with it’s much rougher edge than the traditional and retro inspired R&B records the singer/songwriter has released the past few years. Fittingly though, it is the first taste of his next era, which is leading to the release of the ‘Black Panties‘ album. A record which he has described as an extension of his classic 12 Play album.
If the single release wasn’t sharp and edgy enough for you, a new “extended” version of the song has now surfaced online. Over a minute longer, and including a brand new opening verse, which if you thought the original release had some vogur lines, this is the real ‘story,’ with more explicit one liners, such as “Life’s a b*tch and I’m gonna put my d*ck into it.”
