Robin Thicke is on top of the world. Led by the global success of his title track, the R&B heartthrob has made his first No. 1 debut on the Billboard 200 chart with his sixth studio album ‘Blurred Lines.’
According to Nielson SoundScan the LP shifted 177,000 copies in it’s first week, which is his best first week to date, surpassing his previous 2008 effort ‘Something Else‘ which launched at No. 3 with 137,000.
Thicke’s first album, ‘A Beautiful World,’ was released in April 2003, and spent one week on the chart at No. 152. The set was billed simply to Thicke. This is the first time in his decade long career that he has debuted No. 1 on the Billboard chart.
“Blurred Lines” the single is the second-biggest-selling song of the year, shifting 4.3 million, behind “Thrift Shop,” by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis (featuring Wanz), which has sold 5.8 million.
