Miguel paid a visit to his hometown radio station Power 106 this week for a chat with J Cruz and Justin Credible. The R&B maverick held nothing back as he spoke about working with Beyoncé, and writing the song “Rocket.”
“She had just had her baby, she was in sweats, just looking amazing,” said Miguel of their recording session. Continuing, “I was trying to write a song that was celebrating her sexuality and her confidence in her sexuality, which was kind of explicit for what we’ve heard from Bey.”
Miguel shared his views of Kendrick Lamar not taking home any Grammy Awards, saying that he definitely deserved to win Best Rap Album, but just getting there is a huge accomplishment and Kendrick will be around for a very long time.
He also mentioned that only Pharrell could pull off his now infamous hat, and revealed how his girlfriend Nazanin Mandi coaches him on Instagram posts and gives his selfie rules.
Additionally, Miguel played the famous game of ‘F, Marry, Kill;’ with Nicki Minaj, Kelly Rowland, Jhené Aiko. Before leaving he treated listeners to a live rendition of his hit single “How Many Drinks.”
