The Dream Black Capetown

Earlier this year R&B hitmaker The-Dream surprised fans when he revealed that he has parted ways with Def Jam Records. While we haven’t heard much from him since the announcement, the singer-songwriter released a culturally conscious new song titled “BLACK,” in response to Donald Sterling’s racist comments.

Taking his first ever trip to Africa this week, Dream has been shooting the music video for the powerful song in Capetown. Giving fans an early look at the visual he posted a couple shots to his Instagram page.

Shown in a smoke-filled street in the slums, Mr. Nash simply wrote “#everywhere there’s a Chicago! #Capetown.” The video appears as it will match the songs strong messages.

Additionally, rumors are floating around that Dream has signed with Capitol Records. The single, which is now on iTunes, lists Capitol as the label, while radio airplay reporting company Mediabase also lists Capitol as the label behind the song. Interesting… We will have to wait for an official announcement to know if he signed a label deal or if this is just a one-off type of situation.

At this year’s past Grammy Awards, Dream revealed he is working on a new album and it will be titled ‘Fruition’.
