Janelle Monáe has revisted David Bowie’s classic song “Heroes,” for Pepsi’s new fútbol campaign. After their promotional commercial, which featured a cameo from the eclectic songstress, they have released a short film style music video for the powerful song, which is the first single off Pepsi’s “Beats of the Beautiful Game” LP.

Beats of the Beautiful Game‘ is the world’s first visual soundtrack made up of 11 anthemic songs and companion short films, or ‘filmtracks,’ that capture the indelible spirit of the world’s most popular game – football.

The video, directed By Alyssa Pankiw, features various scenes of school kids being bullied and how they came together to rally for their respect and stand as a unit. Janelle plays a comic book character that helps them build their confidence and learn to be their own heroes.

Pepsi’s Beats of the Beautiful Game album will hit stores in the U.S. on June 10, and include songs from Kelly Rowland, Rita Ora, Timbaland, Don Omar, Santigold and more.
