Right on time for Mother’s Day weekend, breakout star K. Michelle drops a visual to her song, “A Mother’s Prayer.” Found on her debut album Rebellious Soul, the song is a tribute to her young son Chase.
The video to the track shows everyone what it’s like being a single mother to a son and the struggles of letting go when they leave the nest. When asked about her son, K stated to ESSENCE:
“My son Chase is the center of my universe. My fans and media don’t often see him in the spotlight with me and that is because I work really hard to keep his childhood as normal and carefree as possible. I think the most difficult part of my job is not being there each night to tuck my son in, but the sacrifices I make while working are all with his better interest in mind. Being a mother is the most challenging and rewarding part of my life, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
While K. Michelle’s new VH1 spinoff, “Untitled K. Michelle Project” won’t hit your TV screens until November 3, fans can catch her performing July 3 at the ESSENCE NOW PLAYING Concert in New Orleans.
