BET is getting fans ready for the 2014 BET Awards and BET Experience, which will be hitting Los Angeles June 27-29, with a series of free weekend concerts presented by Music Matters. This past Saturday, R&B songstress Marsha Ambrosius headlined the latest show held in the promenade of the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza Mall, and was supported by emerging singers Kesington Kross, Antonique Smith and Candice.
Kesington is a L.A. native who landed a joint deal with Epic and LaFace Records and released his debut EP Audio Justice last December. Antonique Smith is a singer/actress best known for her role as Faith Evans in the film Notorious and leading role in Broadway’s RENT. Also hailing from Southern California is 24-year-old singer/songwriter Candice, who is signed to Ne-Yo’s Compound Entertainment. The R&B hitmaker was on hand to introduce her to the outdoor crowd.
Marsha tore up the stage as always, interacting with fans and performing a 20 minute set including “I Hope She Cheats On You,” “Butterflies,” “Say Yes” and her new song “Run.”
The four-week series of live shows are free to the public and will be incorporated into specials airing on BET and Centric TV.
