UK apparel and accessory company Topshop has a fan in Beyoncé. The singer, who frequents the store’s catalog has decided that it’s time for her to step back into the clotting industry 10 years after her entrance with the urban line House of Deréon – which she created with her mother, Tina Knowles. Now embarking on a 50/50 venture, Yoncé and Topshop owner, Sir Phillip Green, will begin distribution of Parkwood Topshop Athletic Ltd., in Fall 2015.
Set to be a global streetwear brand, the company will sell clothing, shoes, and accessories for women. Combining fashion and technical performance, style categories will include dance, fitness, and sports, and will be sold at the 300+ Topshop stores and Topshop.com.
In reference to the collaboration, Sir Phillip stated, “We have been looking at this category as fashion inspired fitness develops, and know that this is right in our customers’ heartland. Creating a partnership with Beyoncé, one of the most hard-working and talented people in the world, who spends many hours of her life dancing, rehearsing and training is a unique opportunity to develop this category.”
Beyoncé released a statement on the collaboration as well saying: “I could not think of a better partner as I continue to grow the Parkwood business. I have always loved Topshop for their fashion credentials and forward thinking. Working with their development team to create and produce a technical and fashion led collection is exciting and I’m looking forward to participating in all aspects of this partnership.”
