At 72 years old Aretha Franklin is back to show us that she still is and will always be the Queen of Soul. Releasing her remake of Adele’s “Rolling In The Deep” mixed with a little bit of “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” this week, as the first single from her upcoming covers album, the iconic vocalist appeared on ‘The Late Show with David Letterman’ on Monday night for her first live performance of the remake.
Backed by a full band and even Cissy Houston on background vocals, Aretha blew the roof off the Ed Sullivan Theater with her soaring rendition of the modern day classic.
During her chat with Dave she explained her definition of ‘diva,’ shared a story of being nixed from performing on the Ed Sullivan Show, and spoke about her early days performing with her father.
