BJ The Chicago Kid finally returned with some gems for our speakers this year, and now he continues the gifts into the holiday season with his anticipated new EP ‘The M.A.F.E. Project.’
The EP features 11 original songs with guest appearances from Schoolboy Q, Smoke DZA and Freddie Gibbs, as well as Harold Lilly, Sasha Go Hard, and noted guitarist, Jairus Mozee. The soulful singer/songwriter has also premiered a new video for his bonus track, a ’90s tribute titled “One In a Million,” which not only includes his rendition of Aaliyah’s famed song, but also brilliantly covers R. Kelly’s “R&B Thug” and Jodeci’s “Feenin” over Aaliyah’s hypnotic beat.
“This body of work was a labor of love done especially for my fans,” said BJ. “I am excited for everyone to get a full experience through, The M.A.F.E. Project, and to walk away with a revitalized love of RnB.”
The project takes listeners through a journey of love and loss, happiness and strife. With BJ’s vocals accompanied by deep, sensual beats, and gritty guitar riffs, fans are in for an overall aural experience.
Earlier this year, BJ heated up the airwaves with his smooth hook on Schoolboy Q’s No. 1 single “Studio.” He is currently finishing up his debut album, which is set to hit stores early next year via Motown Records.
