It’s clear BJ The Chicago Kid has strong feelings and devotion for his hometown, you don’t use your city in your name if you don’t, but now the soulful crooner shares a direct dedication to Chi-Town with “Where I’m From.”
Borrowing from the incomparable Anthony Hamilton’s famous single “Comin From Where I’m From,” and teaming up with Chicago poet J. Ivy, BJ chronicles his early years growing up in the Chi using Hamilton’s template.
The soulful song is lifted from the upcoming mixtape Lead Never Follow from Chicago men’s clothing store Leaders 1354, set for release early 2015.
