After only a slight delay The-Dream is ready to take his Crown. The Radio Killa has announced that he will release his anticipated new EP ‘Crown‘ on April 14.
He has reunited with production partner Tricky Stewart on the two-part project, which has already spawned the singles “Fruition” and “That’s My Shit” featuring T.I.
Crown will be followed by the ‘Jewel‘ EP, which will then come together for one album with two different perspectives.
“Crown is more modern R&B, and Jewel will be more what you might think of as my songwriter side, the songs I might have given to other artists before,” said The-Dream. “If you put me in a box, Jewel is more what you get when that box is open. But I’m not limited by any box I’ve been put in—every year I’m expanding and growing, and it makes for a more interesting plot.”
Crown/Jewel marks The-Dream’s first album since leaving Def Jam and launching his own label Contra Paris in conjunction with Capitol Records. Below, check out a behind-the-scenes visual produced by The FADER showcasing the creative partnership and chemistry between The-Dream and Tricky Stewart.
