This year’s Neighborhood Awards Weekend had an amazing kick-off that was filled with nothing but R&B!
Taking place in Atlanta, Georgia the award show – formerly known as The Hoodies – was hosted by Steve Harvey and was created to show an appreciation for leaders in communities around the country. Beginning last Friday, Aug. 7 and going through Sunday, the weekend was filled with moments of fun, laughter, and supreme R&B.
To jump start the weekend, fans and stars came out to a live broadcast of the Steve Harvey Morning Show on Friday morning at 6 AM. A packed house to say the least, the Georgia World Congress Center was overflowing with those looking for inspiration from Steve and his crew as well as a chance to meet and greet those set to perform.
Throughout the four hour live broadcast, R&B talents such as Avery Sunshine, Jazmine Sullivan, K. Michelle, and Robin Thicke all took the stage to give onlookers a one-song performance as well as some sit-down time with the co-hosts of the show. In addition to the aforementioned, R&B crooner Tyrese surprised Steve Harvey as he took the stage and engaged with the crowd for a few moments. Stars of the upcoming film The Perfect Guy, Sanaa Lathan and Michael Ealy, also stopped by during the segment to plug their upcoming thriller.
