Earlier this week, some of the most prestigious media outlets in Atlanta were privy to a private meet & great, and performance with RCA/BetIPinnedIt recording artist Avery Wilson. Held at Zac’s Recording Studio in ATL, the event was an intimate gathering hosted by Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter Sean Garrett, with a Q&A moderated by journalist Rea Davis.
Sean Garrett opened the floor with an introduction that conveyed how incredible of an entertainer Avery Wilson is. Avery then took the floor to perform a soulful rendition of Donny Hathaway’s “A Song For You,” followed by an acoustic cover of The Weeknd’s “Earned It,” and a jaw-dropping cover of Fetty Wap’s “My Way” for which the crowd erupted in applause.
Following Wilson’s performance, Rea Davis moderated an intimate Q&A with the rising superstar for which Avery spoke candidly about everything from his incredible vocal range, to working with the likes of Clive Davis and Sean Garrett, and experiencing everything from the Grammy Awards to touring by age 19 (now 20), before opening up the floor to fellow media questions.
Garrett challenged all media in the room to be the chief purveyors of quality music to the masses. He called on the media to realize the power of their role, voice, and purpose. Garrett also stressed the importance of ending the divisiveness that seems to permeate urban music, as he explained that fans and media should be proactive in supporting exceptional music in all genres.
