Queen Bey continues to #Slay.
While she shuts down stadium upon stadium on her “Formation World Tour,” and receives Fashion Icon Awards, Beyoncé has reached another honor with her latest album.
The global superstar has now gone six for six with platinum or platinum-plus albums, after ‘LEMONADE‘ gets the highly-coveted certification from the RIAA.
LEMONADE debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 in April selling 653,000 equivalent album units (485,000 in pure sales) in the first week alone. All six of her solo albums have hit No. 1 as well.
Upon the album’s release, all 12 of the tracks on LEMONADE appeared on the Hot 100 at once, making her the first woman to chart 12 or more songs at the same time. The set sold another 56,000 copies in the week ending June 2, according to Nielsen Music. That brings the set’s total sum to 1.051 million in the U.S.
Her biggest seller is her 2003 solo debut, Dangerously in Love, with 5 million sold. Beyonce’s total solo album sales stand at 17.2 million.
Lemonade is 2016’s third-biggest-selling album and one of only two albums released in 2016 to sell at least one million copies. Drake’s Views, with 1.196 million sold, is the other. Adele’s 25 — which was released in 2015 — is 2016’s best-seller, with 1.334 million sold this year.
