Miguel claims on a brand new song titled “How Many,” which he released for free early Friday (July 8).
Created in the wake of the multiple police-related shootings this week, the Wildheart singer reveals deep frustration on the powerful track.
“How many black lives?” he asks. “How many heartbeats turned into flatlines / How many black lives does it take to wake a change?”
The song isn’t finished, according to Miguel. “This version was started (written/recorded) here in London in my hotel room between the hours of 4am and around 7am when I passed out,” he wrote on SoundCloud. “I’ll update this song every week until its complete.”
Late last month, Miguel released the smooth “Come Through and Chill.” On Sept. 29, he is set to embark on the “Nostalgic for the Present Tour” with Sia.
