American Idol runner-up and Motown Records recording artist La’Porsha Renae makes her official debut with the release of her first album, Already All Ready.
The powerful vocalist and talented songwriter has been tearing up stages since the final season of Idol commenced, and she reached the Top 10 of the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart with her soulful single “Good Woman.”
Already All Ready showcases La’Porsha’s multi-faceted vocals through genre-blending tracks that display versatility as an innovative star that is definitely here to stay. The 13-track album features production from Ne-Yo, Harmony “H-Money” Samuels, Edgar “JV” Etienne, and more.
Talking about the album title and inspiration, La’Porsha recently told ThisisRnB: “It means that I didn’t have to—I don’t have to change anything about myself to become what I want to become, or to pursue my art,” she said. “A lot of times, the industry or society in general will have you thinking that you have to change your look to even get a shot. So Already All Ready is about women and men, alike embracing who they are, what they are, and going for it, just as they are. If you stay ready, you ain’t got to get ready.”
She also shared some insight into the creation of the album artwork. “The album cover represents all of my past insecurities, and everything I advocate for,” she said. “I represent beautiful, full figured women, single mothers and natural haired women, and black lives. My team was iffy about it, but once I explained what it meant to me they were all for it. I’ve been getting good reviews on it, so I’m really proud of it.
