Beyoncé, Bruno Mars Lead 2017 BET Awards Nominations

By

The nominations are in for the 2017 BET Awards, and it’s to little surprise that Beyoncé is reigning supreme.

Queen Bey leads the pack with seven noms, including Album of the Year (Lemonade), Video of the Year (“Sorry”), Best Female R&B/Pop Artist, Best Collaboration (“Freedom” with Kendrick Lamar), and more.

Mr. 24k, Bruno Mars follows right behind Bey with five noms, including Album of the Year (24K Magic), Video of the Year (“24K Magic”), and Best Male R&B/Pop Artist. But competition is stiff this year. Chance the Rapper, Solange, and Migos are all tied with four nods apiece.

Arguably the night’s biggest award, Album of the Year, features Beyoncé and Mars, as well as Solange’s A Seat at the Table, J. Cole’s 4 Your Eyez Only, and Chance the Rapper’s Coloring Book.

The Knowles sisters will also take on Mary J. Blige, Rihanna, and Kehlani for Best Female R&B/Pop Artist. Bruno will battle Chris Brown, The Weeknd, Trey Songz, and Usher for Best Male R&B/Pop Artist.

Last year, Beyoncé opened the BET Awards with a surprise performance of “Freedom” with Kendrick Lamar. Queen Bey also won five awards at the event, including Best Female R&B Pop Artist.

The 17th annual BET Awards will air live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on June 25 at 8 p.m. ET. The ceremony will follow the BET Experience at L.A. Live, which is scheduled to run June 22-25.
