Maxwell will get back on the road this month, kicking off his Summers 17 arena tour on May 23 with support from Common, Ledisi and Leela James.
However, before he brings his lush vocals to audiences once again, the crooner is giving fans an intimate, behind-the-scenes look at his international tour last year with Mary J. Blige, in the documentary “The King & Queen of Hearts World Tour.” The 20-minute black and white film debuted exclusively on Tidal today (May 5).
In the film, shot backstage and onstage in Europe, Maxwell talks about the “family” chemistry between him and the musicians in his band, his two-decade journey from waiter to Grammy Award-winning singer and the excitement of touring with Queen Mary.
“Sometimes I deliver; sometimes I don’t,” says a candid Maxwell. “But my greatest intention is to make sure that people get their money’s worth and walk away with something they can remember for the rest of their lives hopefully.”
