Mila J and Ty Dolla $ign connect once again for a little sweet, and a little spice.
Almost 21 years since the Spice Girls released their breakout debut single “Wannabe,” the L.A. natives deliver a modern remake with “Be My Lover.” Mila follows the theme of the original, telling a potential new lover how her girls need to approve before they take it there.
“If you wanna be my lover, gotta get with my friends,” sings Mila. “So tell me if you’re wit it / If they ain’t wit it then you know where you can kiss it / We’ll be wipin’, sinnin’, livin’ how we do.”
Ty Dolla responds with a raunchy rap/sung verse of his own. “Girl, tell me what you want,” he sings. “You know you’re fuckin’ with a star / And I know you probably heard / I done came up since the last time we fucked.”
In April, Mila dropped her Dopamine project, which she said is the precursor to her long-awaited debut album, that is due out later this year.
