Feast your eyes on Goapele.
The soulful songstress has premiered the anticipated music video for her sensual single “Stay” featuring BJ The Chicago Kid. In the abstract, Sean Alexander-directed visual, a lonely Goapele picks up the pieces of a broken mirror, singing: “right here’s where you belong with me.”
“‘Stay’ is all about how to stay in a relationship past the newness and love stronger,” Goapele told ESSENCE. “BJ was the perfect match for this 808 ballad. He has a classic but effortless vocal performance.”
Last month, we spoke to Goapele in an interview where she expounded upon working with BJ. “We’ve known each other for a while. I felt like it was a natural collaboration, which was nice, it didn’t feel forced at all. He has a great voice, but he also has a great approach to songwriting. He’s really talented so he kind of came right in with the energy and we finished it.”
“Stay” is a stand-out track off Goapele’s stellar new EP, Dreamseeker.
