The Game gives us nostalgia on this #NewMusicFriday. The west coast rap star recruits R&B hitmakers Jeremih and Sevyn Streeter, along with Young Thug for a throwback R&B/Hip-Hop jam titled “Oh I.”
The Bongo the Drum Gahd-produced track samples Foxy Brown’s classic “Get Me Home” featuring BLACKstreet off 1996’s Ill Nana. While Jeremih also pulls inspiration for the hook, Sevyn adds harmonies that are reminiscent of Soul for Real’s “Every Little Thing I Do” off 1995’s Candy Rain.
As for their verses, The Game focuses on a strained relationship with a lady friend. “You mad, texting in all caps,” he raps. “Like I just didn’t put my kids on your back.” Later, Thugger blends intoxication with romance: “I got drunk off your love and throwed up / Poured my heart inside your double cup.”
It’s unclear where “Oh I” will land, but it could very well appear on Game’s forthcoming album West Side Story.
