Top Dawg Entertainment’s budding new singer/songwriter SiR pulls up in “Something Foreign” with his labelmate ScHoolboy Q.
Over a haunting bed or keys, Inglewood SiR’s soulful vocals unfold with a call for individuality and humility. “Trying to keep it humble in a world full of egos, gangstas, and evil,” he sings. “Player in the game, but I’m making my own rules and I’m pulling up in something foreign.”
With a melodic flow and raunchy lyrics, Q adds his take to the stirring track. “I fuck you good, I know / Stamp your book ’til nowhere else to go / Foreign place, a foreign whip to drive,” he raps.
But that’s not all, SiR has also released the Etta Bond-assisted “Something New.” With trippy horns over head-knocking drums, the song allows TDE’s rising star to flex his soothing vocals. “If everything else falls apart,” he sings. “I still have you / If I can find my way back home, we’ll make something new.”
Up next, SiR is joining Miguel on “The War & Leisure Tour,” which is set to kick off Feb. 22 in Portland.
