Following the O2 sponsored visual for “Starlight,” Emeli Sandé quickly follows up with a music video for the Giggs-assisted track “Higher,” off her new EP Kingdom Coming.
The Scottish songstress and English rapper connect in a studio space where they perform the groovy track in front of colorful projected imagery. Displayed as just a silhouette, Sandé delivers her fast paced verses of reaching a higher love.
“So high that the highs and lows are always highs and never lows / You know no lies,” she sings. “So high that the atmosphere is different here / It’s pretty clear to see love’s here.”
Giggs paces around her as he revs up his smooth verse. “Finish off the track he wants the proper copy / I ain’t even gas a man up proper cocky,” he raps. “I’m just in that zone, you keep on knockin’, knockin’ / When I’m in the zone, I need that proper lockin.”
Kingdom Coming serves as Emeli’s first project since 2016’s Long Live the Angels. Speaking about the EP, Emeli had the following to say: “I can’t tell you how excited I am to share this body of work with you! Fronted by a beautiful photo of me and big paps in 1992, it was made in complete freedom and pure passion. I invited some genius friends of mine to join me in the countryside to express themselves with no restrictions, and it’s been an honour to work with three of the world’s greatest in Giggs, Wretch 32 and Dave East. It was an intense week but an absolute dream! New sounds, new stories and a WHOLE LOT of heart! We pushed ourselves hard to reach new levels and I’m so proud of what we have created. I really hope you will enjoy the new sound exploration of this EP and that the lyrics will speak to you on a deep level.”
