Ravyn Lenae admits to her jealous feelings in the playful, retro-themed music video for “4 Leaf Clover” featuring Steve Lacy (of The Internet). The slick track is a standout off her stellar EP Crush, which she released in early February.
Directed by Andre Muir, the video opens with Lenae and her girlfriends enjoying a ’50s styled sleepover, complete with pastel rotary dial telephones and luxurious nightwear. From there, the ladies jump in a vintage yellow truck and race through Californian streets alongside a teal convertible Mustang. All the while, Lenae is calling out her beau for not giving her back the love she has been giving him.
“You only call me when you need / Me, I keep running to your feet,” she sings. “Boy I’m worthy but you treat me like I’m not / And you don’t know how much I bleed / What did I do to make you mean? / Say you don’t want to hurt my feelings, but you are.”
Ravyn turns the troubling relationship situation into a lively and visually stunning video. The clip returns to the nighttime, where everyone has settled into a pool hall and RL and her squad tease the cameras with some vintage girl group moves. Next, the fluttering love birds stare at each other from their respective windows and presumably hook up at the end.
Ravyn Lenae continues to prove why she’s such an exciting young talent in today’s R&B music. Check out her new video above.
