Jhené Aiko and her daughter Namiko Love celebrated Mother’s Day with a special performance on VH1’s “Dear Mama.”

Taking the stage together, Aiko announced “Sing to Me,” a touching track that the mother-daughter duo co-wrote for Trip. “This is a song that I wrote with my daughter, Namiko Love,” said Jhené, before launching into the cut.

“Namiko, did you know, that you used to live in my tummy?” Aiko asked during the duet. “Namiko, did you know, I’m in love with being your mommy?”

What made the performance all the more touching is that Jhené’s mother Christina Yamamoto was watching from the crowd. Sitting at a table with her daughters Mila J and Miyoko, Christina shed a few tears of joy during the moving tribute.

Before performing “Sing to Me,” Aiko also delivered a poem that she wrote for her mother. “I found another grey hair today, but I was not bothered at all,” she said. “I feel like I earned it. I’m better. I’m wiser. I’m leveling up overall. I’m becoming my mother, my beautiful mother, who taught me with age comes might. I’m becoming my mother, my beautiful mother, she is love in the flesh, what a sight.”

Hosted by La La Anthony and Anthony Anderson, VH1’s “Dear Mama” also featured tributes from Diddy, Colin Kaepernick, Teyana Taylor, Jessie J, Ne-Yo, and more.
