Miguel wants to be the realest you ever had. The R&B maverick is among an all-star cast on the soundtrack to SUPERFLY, which hit stores today, a week ahead of the movie. Still hot off his 2017 album War & Leisure, the crooner delivers the brand new song titled, “R.A.N.,” which stands for ‘Real Ass N***a.’
Miguel makes reference to the acronym as a way to preach game to a love interest, whom hasn’t had the right man in her life. Poised and confident that he can be the change she deserves, the Los Angeles native croons his heart out over a heavy instrumental.
“Respect you too much not to be one hundred with you,” sings Miguel. “You deserve the world and me running with you / You know we always been connected / I ain’t perfect / Baby, you should always feel protected.”
In addition to Miguel, the SUPERFLY soundtrack includes the Khalid & H.E.R. duet “This Way,” and features from Lil Wayne, Young Thug, 21 Savage, PARTYNEXTDOOR, and Future, who executive produced it.
The reboot of Superfly, starring Trevor Jackson, Michael Kenneth Williams, Jason Mitchell, Big Boi, and Rick Ross, hits theaters June 13.
