June’s Diary surprise released their debut EP All Of Us at midnight Saturday, June 30. The 6-track project includes a remix of the quintet’s debut single “All of Us” featuring Trina and the “Hurt People” collaboration with Jussie Smollett.
The now-indie R&B/pop girl group announced All Of Us via an open letter to fans on their social pages, officially confirming the quintet was released from Epic Records in January 2017 and have been working together as independent artists since.
“Following LA Reid’s departure from Epic Records at the start of 2017, we were released from the label,” reveals June’s Diary in the letter. “We’ve faced so many challenges working as independent artists to create music we love, music that inspires us, music that makes us feel, and on our own terms. But all these setbacks have only made us stronger and have brought us closer together.”
All of Us was released via Jussie Smollet’s imprint ‘Music Of Sound’ and follows June’s Diary’s debut mixtape Male Edition. The multifaceted EP is composed of sounds influenced by ’80s and ’90s R&B/Soul, Reggae, and Hip Hop, as well as contemporary pop, and covers topics of sisterhood, infidelity, and domestic violence.
It is the first project from June’s Diary to feature all original music since the group formed in June 2016 by way of Kelly Rowland and lauded choreographer/director Frank Gatson Jr. on the BET docuseries Chasing Destiny.
June’s Diary recently headlined the inaugural BET Her Awards during the 2018 BET Experience and is currently opening for Jussie Smollett on his “Sum Of My Music Tour,” which concludes June 7 at the 2018 Essence Festival in New Orleans.
