Over the recent years, the release of R&B music has steered away from only being released on certain days of the week. Since there’s always something new coming out or some breaking news that hits the web, we know it’s sometimes difficult to stay updated all things R&B — even on your days off over the weekend.
Although we’re always here to give you day-by-day updates, we figured giving you a recap of some of the best R&B tracks and moments from weekend’s past (and sometimes a little before) at the top of each week is a great way for you to hear all the good stuff in one place.
November is always an exciting time for music. From holiday sounds to new releases from the industry heavy hitters, there’s always something to look forward to. So, if you happened to miss out on what the last few days have offered up on the R&B front, here’s a short list of what you may have missed.
Tinashe signs with Roc Nation and teams up with 6lack for emotional new track titled “Touch & Go.”
It’s a new day for Tinashe. The singer-songwriter is unapologetically dropping new music as an independent artist and it takes us back to her earlier sounds. In the past month, she dropped “Die A Little Bit” and followed up last week with new single, “Touch & Go,” featuring 6lack. The emotional collab addresses the tug-o-war that can occur in a relationship. Here’s to her independent career getting the boost it deserves after locking in a management deal with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation.
Sevyn Streeter is back with a hot new track titled “Whatchusay.”
It’s been a little minute since we’ve heard new tunes from multi-talented artist Sevyn Streeter, but it seems as if the wait has definitely been worth it. Delivering fresh new lyrics over an addictive beat, the new single hears the songstress confronting her lover who just doesn’t seem to be holding her down like she does him. Definitely relatable to many, “Whatchusay” is sure to get plenty of play.
We’ve been blessed with a never-before-released Prince tune.
Prince may be gone, but his music still lives on. The estate for the late and great artist has decided to give fans an early Christmas gift with the never before released track, “Don’t Let Him Fool Ya.” Originally recorded back in 1982, the song will appear on the reissue of his classic 1999 album. Dropped on Nov. 8, the snappy and catchy tune is one of 23 previously unreleased tracks appearing on the project. According to Billboard, they were all recorded some time between November 1981 and January 1983. The album is slated for release on November 29.
Fantasia’s released a remix to “PTSD” and it features Tank and The Bonfyre.
If you loved the original version of Fantasia‘s track “PTSD” — which featured the incomparable T-Pain — you’ll definitely want to give the remix a listen. Tapping the R&B General Tank and newcomer The Bonfyre, the remix offers up Fanny’s original lyrics with fresh and sexy verses from the new vocal additions. Both Tank and The Bonfyre are currently touring with Fantasia on her “Sketchbook Tour.”
Malachiae’s new single “Try To Love” is surely worth a listen.
It’s been a quiet year for R&B crooner Malachiae, but fans can rest assured that the hiatus is over. Releasing a brand new single titled “Try To Love,” the singer is heard discussing the effects of feeling like you’re not good enough in a relationship. And while there isn’t much word on if an album will be soon to follow, the anticipation is growing more with hearing this new release.
