Rising R&B star Devin Hailey is here with his great new single, “Kick It 2 U.” Devin Hailey is the son of R&B legend K-CI Hailey of Jodeci & K-CI & JoJo fame. With R&B royalty like that in his blood, it is almost inevitable that the music bug was bound to attract Devin. While being born with such a gift comes with many advantages, it also comes an unfair amount of pressure to deliver music worthy of a spot in the family’s legacy. Therefore, the big question is does he deliver? The answer is absolutely.
“Kick It 2 U” is a positive, upbeat song about the joy of love. It’s feel good vibe is matched by the video’s sunny, Los Angeles backdrop. Shots of Devin and his love interest are interwoven with beautiful scene’s of the city’s skyline to evoke the nostalgic feeling of “young love.” “Let me kick it to you baby, let me hit you with that good love, you’re the one I’m thinking of” he sings over the 90’s flavored beat. Surprisingly, the song was inspired by tragedy. The day of the song’s session, Devin lost a love one and opted to channel is emotions into making a positive song about romance and love. “Kick It 2 U” is a home run hit that we are sure to be replaying for months to come.
