Native Washington D.C. creatives, The Amours composed of sisters– Jakiya Ayanna, and Shaina Aisha, share a new single titled “JK, I Love” accompanied by a music video.
“JK, I Love You” is such a relatable song for many who find themselves at times with conflicting and fluctuating feelings about a relationship. The lyrics are playful, soulful, and infectious drawing the listener in and holding tight to every word sung. Known for their eclectic close-knit harmonies and undeniable, one-of-a-kind sound, The Amours bring smoothness to this self-inventoried track that blends nicely with the catchy lyrics. ‘JK, I Love You’ is a definite bop.
The video finds the two beautiful ladies dressed in long black leather coats, sexy lingerie, and with silver “out-of-space feeling” backdrop offering that pairs perfectly with the theme and message of the song.
The Amours are gearing up to release a new project at the top of 2024, and they recently released music earlier this year. Their lead single “Don’t Deserve”, a message of owning your self-worth and knowing when it’s time to leave a situation that is no longer serving you is one to get into.
Known for singing backup for PJ Morton on his tours and albums with an appearance on Tiny Desk, they built the name of The Amours. In 2019, they won the Grammy for Best Traditional R&B Performance for “How Deep Is Your Love”–a cover of The Bee Gees’ 1977 classic–found on Morton’s Gumbo album. Most recently singing backup for the viral tiny desk performance of Juvenile.
This dynamic sister duo honed their vocals as little girls in church, and have blossomed into vocal powerhouses. Both are beneficiaries of The Duke Ellington School Of The Arts in DC.
After a three-year hiatus, The highly anticipated release of the R&B love duo ‘The Amours’ dropped on January 20, 2023, via Hardcover Entertainment in partnership with November Yellow, The Camp & Venice Music. The ladies are hitting the ground running with their first single ‘Don’t Deserve’ from their upcoming EP ‘Around The Way Girl’ produced by DJ Camper & Executive Produced by famed songwriter turned executive Harold Lilly Jr.
