Diamond White Returns with “ALLERGIC” — A Bold Reintroduction to Her R&B Soul

By

After a four-year break from music, Diamond White has stepped back into the spotlight with purpose. Her new single, “ALLERGIC,” is more than just a comeback—it’s a statement.

Released today (4/30/2025) independently, this hypnotic alt-R&B track finds Diamond tapping into a raw, emotional frequency that feels both evolved and deeply personal.

“ALLERGIC” opens a bold new chapter in Diamond’s sonic journey. The production pulses with mood and restraint, wrapping her vocals in an atmosphere of longing and tension. She sings like someone walking the tightrope between desire and distance, trying to hold onto something that keeps slipping away. The refrain hits especially hard: “Truth is I’m allergic / I’m allergic / To love, I can’t touch it / I’m allergic.” It’s poetic, painfully honest, and delivered as only a true vocalist can pull off.

The visual for the track is stripped down but striking. Directed by Keitaro Cloward with choreography by Sayeh and Ja Collective (whose work includes The Weeknd and Olivia Rodrigo), the video finds Diamond moving in a sun-drenched, empty warehouse—her body telling the story as much as her voice. There’s a push-and-pull in the choreography, a sense of being caught in the ache, and it perfectly mirrors the emotional weight of the song.

“This song is about literally feeling like I’m allergic to love,” Diamond shares. “Can’t touch it, can’t trust it. Every time I get close to it, something happens and makes it toxic.”

“ALLERGIC” also marks her first new release since 2021’s Summerland, an alt-pop debut that featured fan favorites like “Oh No!” and “Digitally Yours”—tracks that collectively earned over a million streams across Spotify and Apple Music. Add to that the haunting cover of Sam Smith’s “Lay Me Down” and the Brian Kennedy-produced “Love Songs 4,” and it’s clear: Diamond’s always been fearless in fusing vulnerability with vocal excellence.

While she’s been quiet musically, her screen presence has been anything but. She’s continued making waves on CBS’s The Bold and the Beautiful, and her groundbreaking voice performance as Marvel’s first Black female animated lead in Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur earned her the Best Voice Acting Award at the 51st Annie Awards. Sharing the spotlight with legends like Laurence Fishburne and Alfre Woodard, Diamond held her own—and then some.

Now, with a role in Tyler Perry’s upcoming ‘Madea’s Destination Wedding’ (coming to Netflix in 2025) and a brand-new EP slated for later this year, “ALLERGIC” feels like the opening note of something big. Not just a return, but a reclamation.
