Simone Green is stepping into her power with ‘Black Queen’, a six-track collection created as both a celebration and a statement. This her sophomore album is Rooted in the strength, resilience, beauty and brilliance of Black women. The project explores confidence, healing, self-worth and the journey of embracing every part of who you are.
For Green, Black Queen is deeply personal. She shares that her experiences—including surviving breast cancer twice, building businesses, leading bands and carving out her own space in an industry where women, particularly Black women, are often encouraged to shrink themselves—became part of the inspiration behind the project. Rather than allowing those experiences to define her through hardship, Green transforms them into music that honors perseverance and power.
The project follows the release of its title track, “Black Queen,” which quickly resonated with listeners and became an anthem celebrating Black women. The song also gave Green the opportunity to take her message on the road during her Black Queen Promotional Tour, with stops in New York, Washington, D.C., Atlanta and her hometown of Chicago. The track and accompanying visual earned exposure across BET Soul, BET Her and BET.com, further expanding its reach.
Now, Green turns the page with “Breathe,” a soulful offering that explores the complicated side of relationships and the emotional work that comes with finding your way back to yourself. Written by Green and Jeffery Dillard and produced by Dillard, the song speaks to the moments when healing requires patience, reflection and, sometimes, simply giving yourself permission to breathe.
Another standout is “The Message,” an inspirational record built around compassion, faith and encouragement. Green wrote the song with people in mind who may be quietly struggling, carrying burdens they haven’t shared or searching for a reason to keep moving forward. Its message of faith and perseverance gives the album another emotional dimension, reminding listeners that difficult seasons don’t have to become the end of the story.
Across Black Queen, Green’s goal extends beyond making music. She is creating a body of work designed to leave something meaningful behind—a reminder that Black women’s stories matter, their voices deserve space and their greatness does not require anyone else’s approval.
Production throughout the project comes from SFR, Jeffery Dillard and Arnell Newman, helping Green shape a soundscape that allows the message to remain at the forefront.
