Mýa is really out here living her best life. The veteran songstress is arguably in the best shape of her life, due to her very difficult raw vegan diet, but it’s proving to do wonders for her mind and body. It’s almost hard to believe, but she’s already on her thirteenth studio project, including albums, mixtapes and EPs, many of which have been independent since 2007’s Liberation.
With new music on the way, Mýa paid a visit to New York City this week and sat down for an interview with Ebro in the Morning on Hot 97. The revealing conversation started with the singer/actress discussing her dedication to living a vegan lifestyle, not only including food but not wearing animal products either. She also shared some excellent advice for ladies that have reservations on the diet in regards to keeping their curvy figures.
In addition to her music, Mýa has been expanding her career as an actress with the brand new show 5th Ward The Series. She plays the lead character Mina, a single mother of two struggling to make ends meet in the historical district of Houston’s Fifth Ward.
The remaining conversation centered around her dating life, past, present and everything in between, but Mýa remains coy on past industry relationships. Her new album is titled TKO (The Knock Out) and it will drop on April 20, which is the day before the 20th anniversary of her self-titled debut album. She revealed that the album is very heavily leaning on R&B slow jams. The latest single from the project “You Got Me” was released this past Valentine’s Day.
