The ‘DJ’ received some much-deserved praise on Monday night in NYC. The 2nd annual ‘Global Spin Awards‘ were held at the New York Times Center, hosted by Sway and sponsored by Ciroc and Monster. The awards are the brainchild of Bad Boy Records/Power Moves Inc. executive, Shawn Prez.
It wasn’t all about Hip-Hop though, as some of R&B’s notable names were in the building as well to pay homage and respect to the men and women that help make the hits, hits. Tank, Elle Varner and Jeremih presented awards, while Mack Wilds performed a medley/dedication to Marley Marl.
Some of the nights big winners were DJ Envy who took up “DJ of the Year,” DJ Drama who took home “Mixtape DJ of the Year” and “Online/Satellite Radio DJ of the Year,” Funkmaster Flex won “Mix-Show DJ of the Year,” DJ Mustard won “Producer DJ of the Year,” DJ Irie won “Club DJ of the Year,” and Kid Capri was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award for a very emotional moment.
