NBC’s hit singing competition The Voice has found great success in it’s short life span, already heading into a 6th season in the U.S. Much of the shows appeal can be placed on it’s roster of all-star judges/coaches, who included CeeLo Green for 4 of the past seasons.
Well, according to the Gnarls Barkley creator he will not be returning as a coach on future seasons of the show. Paying a visit to the Ellen Degeneres Show, the eccentric star broke the news.
“I’m not coming back, guys,” Green revealed to Ellen during his interview. “I’m going to continue my relationship with NBC. I have a television show development deal with them as well and hopefully some other talk show opportunities for later in the year. But yeah, I’m going to miss The Voice, too.”
According to Green, a studio album will be part of his focus going forward. “I just want to … I don’t want to wear out my welcome there. You know what I’m saying? I have so many other things that I want to do. I haven’t released an album in four years. I’m almost done with my album.”
In addition to his new music, CeeLo will be joining Lionel Richie on his upcoming spring and summer tour. Watch the interview below:
