Throwback Tuesday: Total – “Trippin'”

“Bad Boy ’98….. Kima, Keisha, and Pam”

“Trippin'” is a song by R&B girl group Total, released as the first single from their sophomore album Kima, Keisha, and Pam in 1998. It was also their second release working with production/writing duo Missy Elliott & Timbaland, while Darryl Pearson handled the main production on the track along with Elliott. Missy was often given a “featuring” credit (likely to create increased publicity for the track) as she provided the background vocals and spoken word to the song.

The track was by far the group’s biggest hit, peaking at number seven on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and number three on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. Pam sings the first verse, Keisha handles the second, and Kima lays the bridge. The music video, shot by Joseph Kahn, is known for the group’s sexy image, and the shot angle from underneath the glass floors of each room. Enjoy today’s throwback the video above!
