By

Cameo is a R&B, soul-influenced funk group that formed in the early 1970s. They were initially a 13-member group.

“Candy” was released as the second single from their 1986 album Word Up!. It reached No. 21 on the Hot 100 and No. 1 on the R&B chart in 1987. The song features a solo by saxophonist Michael Breaker. It has been sampled by various artists, including 2Pac (“All Bout U”), Will Smith (“Candy”), and Mariah Carey (“Loverboy”). The Black Eyed Peas also sampled it for the song “Ba Bump” from their album Monkey Business.
