Thanks to a select few DJs, producers and artists, the fun-filled sounds of the classic days of party R&B are still living on, with new tracks inspired by those records. One of these few is newcomer Mystery Skulls, aka Luis Dubuc, who invokes the disco era with his brand new single “Number 1” featuring the legendary Nile Rodgers and Brandy on vocals!
“I wrote the song with [Brandy] in mind,” Dubuc told The FADER. “Then one day she heard it through someone we both knew, and she said yes. We were in the studio like a week later. When she showed up, she asked to sing on my other track, ‘Magic,’ as well. Brandy’s voice is stunning!” (“Magic” also features Rodgers). Both tracks will appear on Mystery Skulls’ debut album, Forever, due out Oct. 27 via Warner Bros. Records.
In addition to those two collaborations, Brandy is currently back in the studio working on her follow-up to Two Eleven.
