Following the official release of his new single “I Don’t Mind” featuring Juicy J, Usher returned to NYC for a radio press run and visited Hot 97 to chat with the Ebro In The Morning crew.

The R&B superstar reminisced with Ebro about the first time they met when he was a young teenager working on his very first album, and L.A. Reid said that they weren’t allowed to smoke weed around the upcoming star.

Usher addressed the rumor that he beat Chris Brown in a dance-off during their performance at the iHeartRadio Festival, and why he burned his Jordans on stage. Which he compared to Jimi Hendrix burning his guitar on stage. He shared his admiration for Chris, and said fans might be able to catch them performing again on his upcoming tour.  He also shared some Michael Jackson stories, and his feelings on what made the Jackson’s the pinnacle of excellence.

Usher spoke about why he chose August Alsina as the opening act for his upcoming “The UR Experience” tour, and enjoying the ability to mentor other young artists. “I am selfless, I want other people to shine, I want people to have their own sh*t, I want people to be able to grow,” he said.

Talking about his new tour Usher explained it isn’t about selling a new album this time, it’s about celebrating his career and enjoying what he does best.

“The UR Experience tour is all about my entire journey,” said Usher. “20 years of music, I’m goin to give it to them in a way that feels personal, it’s not me selling something.”

Usher also spoke about Justin Bieber’s current situation, his ex-wife, being a father, his mother and much more.
