Uptown Funk you up!
A week after premiering the audio, Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars bring their groovy, retro-inspired new collaboration “Uptown Funk” to life. The fly and flashy days of the ’70s and ’80s are brought to Hollywood in the fun-filled, dance-heavy music video.
Bruno, his band The Hooligans, and Ronson hit the streets in their throwback attire, performing choreographed moves before getting their shoes shined, and stopping by the salon for a fresh perm.
The single is the first release off Ronson’s third album Uptown Special, which will hit stores on January 27. He worked on the album with fellow producer Jeff Bhasker (Kanye West, Drake) over 18 months in London, Memphis, L.A., and New York. They also collaborated with acclaimed author Michael Chabon to help write some of the songs lyrics.
“Before smart phones, bottle service, and smoking bans, people came to the club, found their spot, and stayed all night, absorbed in the music,” said Ronson. “With ‘Uptown Special’ I set out to capture the feeling I remember from those New York nights.”
On Saturday, Bruno and Mark will perform the new single live for the first time on “SNL.”
This will be the best video you see all week. Don’t believe me? Just watch!
