Missy Elliott is a Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter, rapper and record producer. Since Elliott is fresh off of killing a guest Super Bowl Performance, it was only right for us to throw it back to some classic Missy!
“Sock It 2 Me” was released as the second single off her debut album Supa Dupa Fly, it features a rap verse from Da Brat. The song is based on a sample from “Ready or Not, Here I Come (Can’t Hide From Love)” by the Delfonics. The track peaked at No. 12 on the Billboard Hot 100, and reached the top ten on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart. The music video was directed by Hype Williams and was inspired by the Mega Man video game series. Enjoy the throwback above!
After the jump check out a rare clip of Missy performing “Sock It To Me” on Planet Groove.
