Legendary songstress Nina Simone is receiving a tribute from some of R&B’s most talented superstars with the upcoming compilation, Nina Revisited: A Tribute to Nina Simone. Inspired by the Netflix documentary What Happened, Miss Simone? the July 10 release will feature contributions from some of your favorite artists.
Hosting sounds from Lauryn Hill, Usher, Jazmine Sullivan, Mary J. Bilge, Common, and many more, the album features the stars performing covers of multiple tracks from the late Simone. We previously heard Lauryn Hill’s soulful performance of “Feeling Good,” and now she debuts her rendition of “Black Is The Color of My True Love’s Hair,” her second of six covers on the project.
In addition, Usher gives us his bluesy take on “My Baby Just Cares For Me,” and Jazmine Sullivan brings down the house with her reggae-inspired cover of “Baltimore.”
