Times, they are a changing! Since last week we have been celebrating the success and accomplishment of Tyrese, who through devoted, honest promotion put ego to the side and did whatever it took to get fans aware of his brand new album Black Rose.

The album, his sixth, was released via his independent label Voltron Recordz on July 10, and has officially debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart. According to Nielsen Music the set sold 77,000 unit equivalents (including streaming) during the week ending July 16, giving the singer/actor his first ever No. 1 on the Top 200. His last album, 2011’s Open Invitation, debuted at No. 9 with 76,000 in its first week.

Tyrese took to social media to thank his fans for their support. “We did it!! We made a statement….. R&B is still very much ALIVE,” he declared. “And R&B consumers are still very much here you were just waiting on #BlackRose.” He continued, “Whatever the first week of sales are, doesn’t matter…. Every interview, every radio spin, every PD and on air personality shouting out my #Shame single and #BlackRose, all of the social media fun we’ve had and more importantly every fan and supporter…. Even if you couldn’t buy the album I love you and I’m smiling ANYWAY… You guys should be very very proud… WE made a statement…. WE took a pure R&B album to #1 in 15 countries and #1 on the TOP 200 and #1 on the R&B Billboard charts!!!!”

In addition Tyrese has now shared a video from a private album listening event he held at his home in Los Angeles, which he has titled “The Black Rose Experience.”

OK! Black Rose is bringing the R&B back to an old and new audience, and i appreciate that, very much! Tyrese has a smooth and sweet voice that goes down well like, an aged bottle of red wine!
