Preach! Tyrese is out here talking that ish!

Tyrese has finally delivered his anticipated new album Black Rose, reportedly his last solo LP. In promotion of the project, the talented entertainer stopped by Hot 97 to chat with the Ebro in the Morning crew about the album, the status of R&B, and much more.

The singer/actor also spoke about the short film, which is being used as the music video for his latest single “Shame” featuring Jennifer Hudson. In a very important discussion on the state of R&B, he touched on how it is being overlooked by the “pop” genre, making some very interesting points that clearly need to be addressed!  Using his No. 1 song “Stay” and Sam Smith’s “Stay With Me,” which is often brought up in these discussions, as a great example, Tyrese begs the question, why are certain radio formats keeping hit records out of their playlists when they are clearly very popular (such as 11 weeks at No. 1)?

“To all radio, programmers, music in general, if a song is huge in your format more than likely it will perform well in other formats. Stop limiting music to whatever a particular format is, give us an opportunity to spread our music for everybody to hear it, and embrace it,” he said.

Black Rose is in stores now!  Watch the interview below:
