When Tinashe first announced the release of the first song we would get to hear off her forthcoming sophomore album Joyride, we were expecting a certain sound just off the title, but it proves to expect the unexpected, because “Party Favors” is now here, and it’s not another “2 On.”
Over a drowsy Boi-1da-production, Tinashe gets high off her own supply, while Young Thug adds an Auto-Tuned verse.
“They don’t go as hard as I do / I brought some to the party for you / I’ll mix it up and serve it for you / Party favors for you,” sings Tinashe.
Joyride is due in November featuring contributions from Dr. Luke, Max Martin, Hit-Boy, Travi$ Scott, Nic Nac, and Dev Hynes.
“A big part of it was the focus going into it, which was that we weren’t going to make a lot of songs, and it wasn’t going to be so experimental,” she told Rolling Stone. “We definitely knew what we wanted going in, and we were a lot more efficient in achieving it. I have so much other stuff going on that we really didn’t have any other options!”
