R. Kelly Says He’s Excited For The Merging of Genres In Today’s Music

The multi-talented R. Kelly talked with Billboard recently about today’s music, his future plans and the lasting legacy of “Ignition.”

While many artists lean toward purity of their genre, Kelly cites the merging of mainstream pop, hip-hop, country and R&B as one of the things that excites him about today’s music. Kellz has been in the public eye for over 20 years, and the singer isn’t blind to his success. “I know I can do anything when it comes to music,” he says. “I’m pretty much like a piano.”

So for an artist who’s made a lasting impression on music, what’s next? Well, Kelly says he “eventually want[s] to do a worldwide humanity album.”

R. Kelly’s upcoming album, The Buffet, will be released worldwide on Dec. 11. Peep the interview below:
